Name: Kaede
Name Origin/Meaning: 'Maple' in Japanese. Delicate but resilient, keeping it's vibrance through fall.

History: Kaede was abandoned in the snow when her pack were chased off a kill by humans. Really and truly, they should not have been preying on domestic sheep, but times were hard and the wolves had become desperate. Barely old enough to have left the den, Kaede was left dazed and confused when the rest of the pack fled.
A young human girl stooped low in the snow and scooped up the pup in her arms. It was a foolish thing to do. Wolves are wild things- but a pang of guilt struck the girl as she watched the last of the beasts leaving reach the edge of the forest. Taking pity on the creature, she took Kaede home amid protest from her father. As the weeks passed, it proved that exposure to the cold and a diet of cow's milk and scraps had done the Runt little good. Weeks turned to months and she gradually grew weaker, all the while, the human girl's father grew impatient with her. Eventually it was decided that Kaede was nothing but a burden, and the animal shelter would have to deal with her.
'She would only be a danger anyway.'
Bleary-eyed, Kaede raised her head to the sound coming from the other side of the iron grille, barring her from the outside. It was lights out at the shelter and Kaede was scheduled to be euthanized the following morning. Not that she knew, or cared for that matter, because she was too tired and felt like the life was draining out of her.
Until a pair of canid teeth clamped around the grille and deformed the metal grossly.
Blinking at the shadowed form in front of her Kaede mustered the strength to crawl out of the cramped ventilation hatch. She threw her had down and shook herself completely awake- but when she looked up again, the stranger was gone.
Motivation:Since the night she was rescued from the Animal Shelter, Kaede has wandered the ice-fields, snatching a bite from rotting carcasses here and there. Her main priority at the moment is finding food and growing strong. She has forgotten the faces of the humans who helped raise her and is unsure if her pack are still alive. Kaede is searching for wolves she can call family; her heritage; her identity- but primarily it is the search for the wolf that saved her life that causes her to keep running.
Maybe this new pack will provide her with answers, and a place she can call home.
Physical Build: Kaede's wiry frame makes her over-sized mane look a little out of place, but she is a sight to behold nonetheless. There is something a little wild about her rough-around-the-edges look, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. She lacks endurance, but can put on a burst of speed, her long limbs giving her an ample stride. He hind quarters slope beautifully, but her tail is a low-slung bristly mess, along with most of her pelt. Her jaw is set hard and strong, with a Shepherd-like muzzle and alert, pointed ears.
Superficial Appearance: Mostly in shades of sable and gray, Kaede has patches of paler fur about her face, bringing out her piercing green-brown eyes. There is a dark dorsal stripe running from the base of her skull to her tail and the fur has grown back pale from countless scars. Her markings are darker in the body, fading down her legs and tail. Tufty fur accentuates her expressive face, a ruff far more developed than her age would usually exhibit.
