Note: He has no faction currently, but I am aiming him quite plainly at challenging for the Eastern Flatlands.

Name: Nalvarrak
Name Origin/Meaning: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Faction: Self/None

History:

A wolf of unremarkable birth, Nalvarrak grew up the son of a Delta Warrior in an easterly, medium-sized pack. His father had distinguished himself through expertise and hunting, though both knew their place; in that pack, neither would live to attain anything more than what the father had already achieved. Though the pack’s numbers grew only slowly, they had seen relative peace for many seasons, on the whole. And though their lives could be better, most were content.

Nalvarrak wasn’t the only son of his father- there were two others, both younger and of a seemingly more ambitious stripe than he. In youthful impudence, they simultaneously challenged the Alpha and Beta Commander of the pack, and lost humiliatingly in their turn. At their father’s pleading they were at first granted leniency; though when the elder of the pair repeated his foolish request, even after given repeated warning, he was publicly declared to be the pack’s Omega. All this Nalvarrak watched with calm, slightly disgusted eyes, offering no help or console to his now collectively shamed younger brother.

The other young warriors and older pups took a lesson from the mortified pair, but none more than Nalvarrak. His other sibling- a quiet, elder sister- swore that neither she nor her future litters would forget their places, so as they lived, so as to avoid such humiliation. Nalvarrak quietly swore the opposite. He would someday lord over his own pack, or at least rise to a position currently unavailable in his own; after all, he wasn’t blind to his own circumstance. His brothers’ motives were clear in his eyes, and deeply down, he felt them just as keenly – the birth pattern of submission and domination had placed him too low on the scale for his liking. The difference was that he would be wiser. He would wait, until he knew that psychologically and physically he was ready.

So he left, heading west by circling the edges of tiny swamps and grottoes: west, for he had heard the Wolflord’s proffer. The vast lands he ultimately came upon seemed good to him, though at his arrival, the stench of the south still smoked across the far horizon. Even better, it was still early enough to remain unclaimed – waiting for someone of /his/ caliber to attempt to take them.

He has lived alone for as long as he has dared – life is hard for a lone wolf who deserts his pack, however benevolently they think of him.

Now, however, he feels he is ready
.

Motivation: Power; disdain; the promise of something new. Though Nalvarrak is at heart a serious, calm-eyed wolf, seemingly long of patience, pride and arrogance chafes at the bit – he wants /more/ than what he had. He is not kindly; a part of it is a selfish want to arouse the jealousy of his shamed brothers, but most of it his solely his. Opportunity excites him, but he is patient enough to know what he wants, and how best to go about obtaining it. If such involves fair trial and combat, so be it – he is more than willing to test himself physically. If underhanded, shifty, treacherous deals are involved, well, then so be that, too; though he truly prefers the former.

Physical Build:
Nalvarrak is of average height and girth for a fairly young, healthy wolf; his muzzle is stocky and powerful, his legs lean, long, and fit for running. He has often been quoted as having a cruel bite, though that may be more the work of his personality than any naturally superior strength. It’s his own willingness to keep himself in prime condition, and a fairly good eye, that make him a good fighter; he was not born physically superior to other wolves, but his own discipline has made him that way.

Superficial Appearance:
A typical grey wolf; his fur seems to be tinged with splotches of faded, warm brown, and a caramel tint shades an otherwise snowy muzzle. His eyes are darkly edged, amber-colored, and hard. Several jagged scars mark his flanks, though they are mostly buried by the long, silky fur that has since grown over them.
